Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of VetCivNav ("Service") operated by Paternal Path ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Service Description

VetCivNav is a career planning tool designed to help veterans transition from military service to civilian careers. The Service provides:

• Career pathway recommendations based on military experience
• Market pay estimates for various career paths (estimates, not guarantees)
• Education and certification roadmaps
• Family impact analysis for career decisions

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

3. Account Registration

Some features of the Service may require you to provide an email address. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

4. Subscription Plans

A. Free Plan

The Free Plan provides access to template-based career pathway recommendations. No payment is required.

B. Pro Plan ($79/year)

The Pro Plan includes:

• AI-assisted personalized career pathway analysis (when enabled)
• More detailed roadmaps (AI mode)
• Save and share results (saved in your browser; share links encode your results)
• Credential cost breakdowns (coming soon)
• Priority support (coming soon)

C. Billing

• Pro Plan is billed annually at $79/year
• Payment is processed securely through Stripe
• Subscription automatically renews unless cancelled
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period

D. Refund Policy

5. User Conduct

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the Service
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
• Submit false or misleading information
• Abuse, harass, or threaten our support team
• Share your Pro Plan account with others (each subscription is for individual use)

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by Paternal Path and protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our written permission.

7. User-Generated Content

When you provide information to the Service (e.g., your veteran profile), you grant us a limited license to use that information solely to provide the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your information.

Career pathway results generated by the Service are provided to you for your personal use. You may share or print them as needed for your transition planning.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PATERNAL PATH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:

• Your use or inability to use the Service
• Any career decisions made based on Service recommendations
• Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in Service content
• Unauthorized access to or use of your data

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS LESS.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Paternal Path, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Fraudulent or abusive behavior
• Non-payment of subscription fees
• Any reason at our sole discretion

You may cancel your Pro Plan subscription at any time by contacting support@vetcivnav.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Sacramento County, California.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
